In the pandemic of 2020 the theater lights went dark. Necessity is the mother of invention. Inkweed publishing leverages associations with award winning designers, performers and musicians coupled with 25 years of internet technology and emerging media experience. Inkweed publishing embodies the spirit of “the show must go on” by launching a pioneering approach to musicals – podcast audio drama format. As a new delivery of theatrical works, we have reached a broader audience with audio-only productions distributed through podcast platforms, streaming apps and radio. Our shows are produced remotely and edited in post allowing inkweed to connect artists to patrons despite challenges, or other real-world limitations to stage performances that we will continue to be faced with . Inkweed does not attempt to replace the visuals of a magnificent Broadway stage performance but offer another enthralling production – the magic of sound.
Inkweed Publishing is located in Ashland Oregon home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and internationally acclaimed theater town since the “Chautauqua movement” first brought arts and culture to rural settings over 100 years ago. Pandemic be damned. The town is thriving once again.
